The Rugby World Cup began on the 7th of September, and you can follow all the action with The Highly Unofficial Rugby World Cup Fantasy Teams Tournament 2007 (THURWCFTT7).
Each player was given a hundred dollas (like dollars, but more fictional) and had to buy four teams and put them in order of how `exciting' they thought they would be. Players score two points each time one of their teams wins and one point each time one of their teams draw. Players are then ordered by the number of points they have.
If players have the same number of points then they will be ordered by the `excitingness' of their first team. Excitingness is (arbitrarily) measured by the average total score in the matches your team plays (for AND against). So if a team has played one match which was won 21-17 then their excitingness will be 38. If they subsequently play matches with less points scored in then their excitingness will go down.
If two players have the same number of wins and their first teams have the same excitingness then the second teams will be compared for excitingness, and so on. No player is allowed to pick exactly the same four teams as someone else already has.
Prizes will be allocated to the teams who end up 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 20th and 35th (this is subject to change). Prize winners will get to choose a prize from the pool from the top down, and hence the person in 35th place will get no choice over what they win. The organisers of THUCWCFTT7 may not be able to pay for postage if you're living in Australia or something, but we'll probably be ok posting to inside the UK.
